Happy In(fill) Hillhurst

If you follow us on Instagram (if not… why on earth not?) you’ll have heard me say that infill homes are a challenge!

They tend to have similar floor plans, are long and narrow which makes furniture layouts a challenge and many of a certain era lack personality.

When this young professional couple with two small kids was referred to me from a past client, we were happy to give their home a much needed injection of style.

As you can see, it needed an update in both function and finishes.

We added a long run of floor to ceiling storage and helped the flow between the eating area and the kitchen by moving the table so it was an extension of the island. It was previously pushed against the wall… though above in this photo we moved it to the end of the island for them to test out.

Updating the finishes in the kitchen, new lighting and furniture gave this infill presence and charm, lacking in so many Calgary infills. It now feels like the perfect space for this family to live in day to day as it suits their needs far better as well as acting as an inviting space to host family and friends.
